Filtration pore size of paper filter is 25m - 250m and also irregular (average 85m-100m). Its Oil Flow Rate is very little. It will only acquire a proper Oil Flow Rate if the filtration paper and housing are made larger.

Power-Long Filter has a cylindrical SUS Mesh which is basically different from paper filter. Filtration paper works like an accordion in order to maximize the filtration area, there by increasing differential pressure. This is harmful for the engine. Power-Long Filter reduces differential Pressure.

Paper filter has a high differential pressure because oil pressure going out is lower than oil pressure coming in Power long filter has a low differential pressure because oil pressure going out is nearly equal to oil pressure coming in.

Differential pressure is the difference of oil pressure below oil pressure coming into the filter and oil pressure going out of the filter. |

When the pressure of oil pump increase rapidly, in paper filter the differential pressure begins to increase immediately. Before the differential pressure gets to 1 bar (1kg/cm2), oil not filtrated and sludge captured by filtration begins to circulate through relief valve. are connected with belts and axles. So the differential pressure of oil filter effects several parts of engine directly and can result into slip of belts, engine noises, wearing of engine, lowering of generating power lowering of response in fuel consumption increasing in oil consumption etc

Function of Power-Long Oil Filter inner view
A = Packing, Outer (NBR)
|
Packing Rubber that seals tightly the contact surface of engine and oil filter needs to endure the sudden change of temperature.
B = Cap-Stiffener (1=2.3)
Cap-Stiffener has 4-8 dirty oil inlets and a clean oil outlet in the center. Clean oil outlet is made by tap-bolt being screwed on the mounting region of engine.

C = Cap-Seaming (EZI t=0.5)
|
Cap-Seeming that supports packing rubber and is seamed with Cap-Housing together is designed to endure high pressure.

D = Reverse Valve (NBR)
|
Check Valve (Reverse Valve) prevents the oil form a counter current when the engine has stopped.

E = Filter Element (SUS 314)
|
Stainless Mesh is weaved by vertical wires of 0.36 mm and horizontal wires of 0.25 mm Size of filtering pore is standard 0.65µ. unused SUS-Mesh is penetrated by ray but used SUS-Mesh is not because plenty of minute metal bits are driven into the mesh.

H = Stopper Spring
|
Stopper spring plays the role of support between Filter element and Cap-Housing. It adapts itself when Cap-Housing swells.

I = Relief Valve (Critical pressure: 1±0.2 kg/cm2)
|
Bypass value (Relief valve) of Power-Long Filter scarcely opens as opposed to that of Paper filter. But is is designed to open for the protection of engine in case sludge blocks the filter element temporarily because of not changing engine oil of oil filter regularly.
